23 April 2013, Singapore – My head went, “Oh dear, they are doing another remake!” But the presence of Raimi, original collaborator Rob Tapert, and star Bruce Campbell as producers should ensure the remake is faithful to the original giving it a modern spin. The original Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 are genuine cult classics with a huge following of fans, and after watching the trailers, the 2013 became one of my most anticipated movie.

My thoughts on the movie? Insane amount of blood, and it is downright intense, at some points even terrifying. It is by far one of most brutal flicks I’ve seen in a while. The movie set in Michigan, performed by a cast of American unknowns. Evil Dead may just be a product made to please horror, gore and slasher flick fans. You will not be disappointed with the amount of fake blood they use in the movie and they do inject some humor into the movie. Your typical blond teenagers doing ‘blonde’ things by messing a book found in a room filled with dead cats (duh). My favorite line from the scene “My face hurts!” got me laughing out loud.

Don’t expect a moving plot or exceptional acting, instead, enjoy the horror as human flesh gets torched, cut and tongue gets split into two. Yum.
