1872 Clipper Tea Co. Goes Back In Time With “City of Flavours” Tea Collection

After 50 years of trials, tribulations and phenomenal successes Singapore has experienced, 1872 Clipper Tea Co. brings Singaporeans back in time with a Singapore-themed tea set which highlights its famous landmarks and iconic places.

1872 Clipper Tea Co.’s organic concoction and blend encompass fundamental elements such as the people and places of Singapore’s rich heritage. Inspired by three of the most iconic places of Singapore – Orchard Road, High Street and Lau Pa Sat (meaning “old market” in Hokkien dialect), exotic concoctions of tea blends represent each area’s historical moments and how it evolved to what it is today.

City of Flavours Tea

Orchard Road

This area was a plantation of nutmeg and pepper as well as fruit orchards back in the 1800s, hence the name “Orchard Road” was coined. Now,it is a hustling metropolitan shopping area amassed with luxury brands. This blend of tea contains hibiscus flowers, raspberry leaves and other herbs to represent the humble beginnings of Orchard Road.

High Street

The founder of 1872 Clipper Tea Co., B.P de Silva, embarked his journey in Singapore by starting up a jewellery boutique along High Street. He also served rich Ceylon tea to his customers as they patronised his store. This landmark was the beginning of 1872 Clipper Tea Co. and this rich Ceylon tea blend is infused with warm spicy notes of ginger which tells an ageless story of a buzzing commerce street.

Lau Pa Sat

Also known as Telok Ayer Market, Lau Pa Sat is located in the Central Business District and provides hearty hawker fare to offices along Shenton Way. One of Singapore’s oldest sweet indulgences is gula melaka, a sap obtained from coconuts and boiled to a thick creamy goodness. This tea pairs the rich sweet taste of coconut into a refreshing green tea base which complements alongside pastries and desserts.

These three elegant and iconic blends are lovingly wrapped in a travel box which are great as gifts for tourists and friends. If any of our foreign friends wants a piece of Singapore history, Metropolitant definitely recommends this as a warm and loving gift for them to take home to enjoy.
