Metropolitant’s Top Anime Of 2012 – Another アナザー

28 November 2012, Singapore –  Each person has his or her own way of escaping from reality. Some people pray, some people read popular books, some people watch movies, and some people watch anime. The graphics, voice expressions, language, the thought and time put into anime from the Japanese artists its simply amazing. The Metropolitant Team had a hard time trying to agree on the one and only anime we thought was the best in 2012. We do hope you will take some time to watch this anime and let us know what you think of it.

Another アナザー

“26 years ago, in a third-year classroom of a middle school, there was a student named Misaki. As an honors student who was also good at sports, she was popular with her classmates. When she suddenly died, her classmates decided to carry on as if she was still alive until graduation. Then, in the spring of 1998, a boy named Sakakibara Kouichi transfers to the class, and he grows suspicious of the fearful atmosphere in that classroom. In particular, there is a beautiful, aloof girl named Mei Misaki who wears an eyepatch and is always alone drawing pictures.”

Dark intense scene and relatable characters makes this one of my favorite anime this year. Focusing on the lead couple, the story leads you into a convoluted plot of what everyone is trying to hide. The two leads have creative backgrounds and they’re well fleshed out. Lots of hints everywhere and the finale answers most of your questions and the series wraps up pretty nicely. Another’s ability to retain its supernatural premise while expressing it through the outlet of conventional means makes it strangely more appealing as well frightening.

The success of the also spawned the live action version of the anime.
