REFRAME – Multi-Disciplinary Programmes For Singapore Art Week

The Parkview Museum Singapore announces its Singapore Art Week 2018 programme REFRAME, a series of multi-disciplinary public engagement events and activities aimed at fostering greater dialogue between a private institution and Singapore’s art community.

They will be featuring guided tours, sketching sessions, an artist panel and the official Singapore Art Week closing party, REFRAME invites the audience to reflect on the artistic methods employed by artists to explore and expand on the concept of the artistic self. REFRAME runs from 17 to 28 January 2018 and is complimentary to the public, underscoring The Parkview Museum Singapore’s passion and commitment to making art accessible to all.

REFRAME accompanies The Parkview Museum Singapore’s ongoing exhibition The Artist’s Voice, a four-month exhibition that runs until 18 March 2018. Featuring 34 international contemporary artists, The Artist’s Voice presents works that focus on the capacity and competence of contemporary art to transfer essential messages and existential revelations.

Acts of Voicing Artist Panel

Moderated by Dr Michelle Lim, Acts of Voicing is a dialogue session which presents the experiences of Singapore artists negotiating fields of artistic production and concept of the ‘international’.

The practices and approaches of the shortlisted artists focus on revealing perspectives about society, narratives and humanism. Such a focus seeks to raise important questions such as the artist’s role in society, and how they can create perspectives related to ideas of change, as well as relations between systems of thoughts, the arts and cultures.
Featured artists include Ho Tzu Nyen, Jason Wee, Lee Wen and Shubigi Rao.

Artists in Conversation

The artists of The Artists’s Voice join Dr Lorand Hegyi, curator of the exhibition, in conversation. They will discuss the motivations behind their practices as well as their works presented at The Artist’s Voice.

PVM Live! Singapore Art Week Closing Party

Closing Singapore Art Week on a high note is PVM Live! on 28 January. The party promises a high-energy night of art, drinks and live performances, featuring an artistic improvisation by Bani Haykal, a performance by weish and a live DJ set by Rah (Darker Than Wax). PVM Live! will start after museum operating hours at 7.30pm and run until late.
