8 January 2013, Singapore – If you are a tech-junkie, the international Computer Electronics Show (CES) is the one event you would not want to miss. Every year, all the major electronics industry would showcase/show-off their latest innovation. It is where trends are set and glimpse of future gadgets are revealed.
Sony announced today at the CES keynote speech that the Bravia 4k Ultra HD LED TV is coming to consumers homes sooner than we think. If you remember, Sony launched a 84” Bravia 4k Ultra-HD TV last year which impressed many who have seen the actual demo (including our very own Metropolitant editor :P). The price point of USD 25,000 however, makes it unreachable to many. So today, Sony’s CEO announced Kazuo Hirai announced the two new 4K Ultra HD TVs to its X series line-up: the 65-inch and 55-inch screen sizes. For those of you who are not too familiar, 4K Ultra HD TV has four times the resolution of Full HD (3,840 x 2,160 pixels). We can only hope that the 55” inch model will be still within our reach.
Another area that Sony is looking to concentrate into is the Near-Field Communication (NFC) technology. One of the product that is ready to be rolled out to consumers is the Wireless Portable NFC and Bluetooth® Speakers. With NFC technology, we can simply hold our smartphone or tablet to the NFC-enabled speaker to instantly stream high-quality music or crystal-clear phone calls. These speakers will work even if the smartphone/tablet is not from Sony.
Fitness buffs have plenty to cheer. Sony has just unveiled the new Walkman® Sports MP3 Player (NWZ-W270), which is a water-proof, all-in-one digital music player designed to conveniently and comfortably be worn to the gym, the trail, the treadmill, or even into the pool. No more worrying about your earphones being damaged by your sweat during work out or by the sudden downpour when you are jogging outside.
Also in the pipeline is Sony’s new mobile phone Xperia Z. With a 5” Full HD 1080p Reality Display, Snapdragon™ S4 Pro quad-core processor, 13 megapixel fast-capture camera and 4G LTE, Xperia Z has all the specifications expected from a premium smartphone. On top of this, it brings the best of Sony’s unique technology, content, design and connectivity to deliver rich user experiences. Xperia Z will launch globally in Q1 2013.
In addition, Sony announced a whole new range of Handycams and Cybershot camera with Wifi capability for easy sharing of content. Sony did put in lots of effort to WOW us this year. A good direction indeed!
