Tucked away along Scotts Road with a serene colonial setting in the heart of the city, from 1 December till 4 January 2015, be treated to an array of exquisite Peranakan dishes with INDOCAFE – The White House’s festive Ala Carte Buffet.
Satiate your appetite with over 30 items in their lunch and dinner menus, most of which are special offerings that date back to colonial Singapore. The chef at INDOCAFE – The White House had specially recreated this old and almost-forgotten cuisine for those looking for a taste of old Singapore for the holidays.
Some items not to miss out are: Kueh Pie Tee – the pastry cups were fresh, crispy and not oily, and the filling of sweet turnips and fresh crab meat was refreshing; Ayam Buah Keluak – a tricky dish but the balance of the nutty flavour, spices and texture of the sauce was spot on; Beef Rendang – done to perfection, the Wagyu beef cheeks melts in your mouth and the homemade rendang sauce was just right with its texture, consistency and taste; Last but not least Tempoyak Asparagus – using D24 durians, the taste was not over-powering and it was marinated well which complemented the dish with a tinge of sweetness!
With sommeliers on hand, they are also ready to assist diners in choosing appropriate wines to complement the exquisite dishes – some of the wines are exclusive and blended just for INDOCAFE – The White House!
