Sensual, masculine, elegant and inspired, DEBONEIRE is a new label of exquisite limited-run evening wear for men. Created by new Singaporean designer Matthew Gideon, it will debut in January 2015 with its very first Spring/Summer collection of 15 suits to dress men of character and taste from cocktail to dinner to the red carpet.
DEBONEIRE was born out of necessity. As tools, articles of clothing and accoutrements were often fashioned out of need, both in form and function, DEBONEIRE was fashioned to fit.
The spirit of DEBONIERE shares much with the Italian philosophy of la bella figura, to live with an awareness and appreciation of beauty in every area of life. The name itself is a construct of De Bon Eire which in French means ‘of good lineage’. DEBONEIRE’s logo, the paradise riflebird, is a rare passerine bird-of-paradise with a plumage envied by many, and epithetical of a man that is indeed of good lineage.
Inspired by Italian Sprezzatura, DEBONEIRE’s debut pairs classical design sensibilities with fresh perspectives, resulting in a collection that belies Matthew’s 23 years. Cocktail suits custom-dyed in deep colors of precious stones, sapphire, topaz and ruby, and rakish velvet tuxedo jackets that stand out in a sea of blacks and grays on the red carpet. The collection also includes separates printed dinner jackets and pants that bring a whimsical twist to cocktail wear, as well as a Prince Albert slipper.
Fabrics used in the collection include silk, linen, cotton and wool sourced from around the world and developed by appointed garment manufacturers. Suits are lined with breathable Bemberg, the choice of most premium tailors, and each piece is finished off with fine details such as mother-of-pearl buttons.
Baroque-esque settings form the backdrop for DEBONEIRE’s Spring/Summer 2015 campaign. Rich, saturated colors dominate. Key looks include dressed-down cocktail suits in emerald and burgundy, and a black on fuchsia ensemble. Air ties, club collars and collar bars also feature prominently for the season.
DEBONEIRE will be available exclusively online in January 2015 at www.deboneire.net. The online boutique will include sizing charts and detailed images of each piece in multiple angles for an enhanced shopping experience.
