Spring Summer’15 will see the launch of the eagerly anticipated collaboration with renowned New York-based sneaker designer – Ronnie Fieg. For this collaboration, the key silhouettes are the 90s classic, Trinomic R698, and the newly introduced and remodeled version of it’s predecessor, the R698 Mid.
The R698 archive runner was selected to pay homage to PUMA’s performance heritage with an updated execution of colours and materials to transform the sneakers into a modern classic. A highly exclusive collection that is limited in distribution, the PUMA x Ronnie Fieg pack is a clear indication of the silhouettes for upcoming styles.
Inspired by the Japan’s iconic ornamental Cherry Blossom trees and the joyful tradition of Hanami (flower viewing), the creative partnership is aptly named, The Sakura Project. The project aims to embrace, celebrate, and pay homage to Japanese art and culture.
Available in two models, both pairs are beautifully and distinctively painted with colours and gradients that depict the stunning view of blossoms. For the R698 Sakura, the rich perforated suede of the toe as well as the midsoles are shaded bright red to resemble the striking deep pink core of the flowers. Colouring the rest of the shoe, the bold pink at the tip continue to fade into a dreamy texture of lighter shades to symbolize the assorted blossoms and the growth of Sakura.
Capturing the later phases of the Sakura blossoms with the transition of burgundy to navy, the R698 Mid takes design cues from the R698 with an inner sock booty constructed in tech neoprene and is finished with a 3M covered strap.
The PUMA x Ronnie Fieg Sakura pack will be exclusively available in Limited Edt stores from 11 April onwards, at the retail price of S$230 (Sakura) and S$250
