From 30 May to 2 August 2015, during lunch and dinner, Coffee Lounge will introduce a dessert buffet which features a tempting range of durian pastries in addition to the regular desserts. Seven durian creations; the all-new D24 Durian Ice Cream with Rainbow Bread (one serving per guest, also available for a la carte orders at $7.50++ per serving); Durian Macaron, Mini Durian Chocolate Wafer Roll, Durian Cappuccino Cake, Durian Mousse Cake, Durian Puff and a live station highlight – á la minute Durian Pancakes, will be showcased among the spread that includes delectable cakes, hot and chilled local desserts, ice cream and more.
In particular, the D24 Durian Ice Cream with Rainbow Bread is a vibrantly-hued nod to nostalgia and a sweet tribute to the nation’s SG50 celebrations. Once a familiar sight on the streets of old Singapore where vendors would sell scoops of ice cream wedged in a folded slice of fluffy multi-coloured bread, the ‘ice cream sandwich’ is gradually becoming a rare find, although still very much enjoyed by locals and tourists alike. Diners at Coffee Lounge can now savour a luxurious version that is enhanced with the king of fruits!
