Asiasoft Online, the official Southeast Asia publisher for Heroes of the Storm™, Blizzard Entertainment’s highly-anticipated free-to-play online team brawler, announced the Heroes of the Storm Southeast Asia (SEA) Championship. With a total prize pool of USD$100,000 — Asiasoft aims to find the best team to represent Southeast Asia on the global stage. The winner of the SEA Championship will compete at the official Americas Championship, which leads to the Grand Finals at BlizzCon in Anaheim, CA, this coming November.
Heroes of the Storm, which launches June 3, allows players to assume the roles of iconic heroes from more than 20 years of Blizzard gaming history, including those from the Warcraft®, StarCraft®, and Diablo® series, as they duke it out in quick 5v5 matches across an array of dynamic battlegrounds in the Nexus.
Together with main sponsor, Alienware™ and peripherals sponsor, Razer™, Asiasoft will be holding National Qualifiers in four countries: Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines, starting in June, with a prize pool of USD$15,000 each.
The top four teams from the National Qualifiers will culminate in the Regional Grand Finals hosted in Bangkok, Thailand on the 8th of August. The Grand Finals will feature a USD$40,000 prize pool.
The National and Regional finals will be casted and streamed live on http://www.twitch.tv/BlizzHeroesSEA.
“We’re excited to kick off Blizzard’s first-ever Heroes of the Storm global tournament series, and we’re looking forward to seeing all of the action as teams battle for a chance to compete at BlizzCon,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “Best of luck to all of the skilled and talented competitive gamers in Southeast Asia.”
