Now for its aesthetic outlook, the NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto DROP machine is inspired to look like a drop of coffee. This playful and fluid sculpture would be a conversational starter for both the office and the home. NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto DROP is not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional to compliment the beverage-making experience and the user.
In conjunction with the release of NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto DROP, NESCAFÉ has collaborated with Janice Wong, one of Asia’s best pastry chefs and owner of 2am:dessert bar. This harmonious partnership celebrates a shared passion for unique and interesting creations with a belief that by marrying coffee and art, can result in fresh and imaginative innovations.
Metropolitant was invited to try the launch of Janice’s three lovely dessert creations which were inspired by NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto coffee variants. Each dessert perfectly complements three different Dolce Gusto coffee blends, namely “The Cappuccino”, “Popcorn” and lastly, “Chocolate Licorice”.
The Cappuccino ($25)
This dessert was inspired by NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto signature cappuccino variant. The dessert showcases a melon-aerated disc create with fresh melon and milk which is said to emulate the fresh steamy milk topping in a cappuccino. With crunchy hazelnuts streusel and tonka milk ganache, the overall sweetness of the dessert pairs very nicely with the blend of rich expresso and milk.
Popcorn ($27)
This has to be the most interesting dessert created by Janice. The centrepiece of the dessert is a popcorn parfait. Janice created the Popcorn parfait by what the french calls, pate a bombe. This technique requires good skills and of course, very fresh ingredients. Janice incorporated a citrusy sour flavour made from mango cream, yuzu parfait and plum gel, all of which are typical of Asian origins. By pairing both sweet and acidic flavours, you can expect a “burst” of creativity in this dessert. “Popcorn” pairs with the NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto Latte Macchiato.
Chocolate Licorice ($27)
A unique combination of both sweet and savoury flavour, this dessert is created specifically to complement the strong and full-bodied Ristretto Ardenza, the most intense Espresso variant in the NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto line of coffees. The earthly notes of chocolate and licorice mousse complements the espresso and Janice has injected a twist of thyme lemon ice cream, peanut butter dulce sticky frozen ganache, with cinnamon coffee crumble. If you feel worthy of the challenge with this strong and full-bodied pairing, do give this a try!
NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto coffee and dessert pairing menu is available at 2am:dessert bar from 15th September 2015 till 14th December 2015.
