This December, the Dim Sum Dollies are ready to steal the spotlight once again with their latest (and possibly final) full-scale production, “The History of Singapore: Sixty Sexy Years.” From 12–21 December 2024 at the Capitol Theatre, this comedic cabaret will take audiences on a wildly entertaining ride through six decades of Singapore’s history.
What’s the Buzz About?
If you’ve never seen the Dollies in action, imagine Singapore’s history retold with humor, heart, and just the right amount of cheeky sass. Led by the dynamic trio of Selena Tan, Pam Oei, and Jo Tan, this production is a mix of musical numbers, witty sketches, and dazzling costumes that bring a fresh, satirical twist to familiar events.
From independence and national service to GST hikes, political scandals, and even the pandemic, the Dollies aren’t afraid to poke fun at the moments that have shaped Singapore. As Jo Tan puts it, “Singapore is 60 going on sexy, and we’re here to remind everyone that laughter is the best way to celebrate our quirks and triumphs.”
What Makes This Special?
This could be the last full-scale Dim Sum Dollies show, which makes it extra special. Whether you’re a longtime fan or completely new to their unique brand of humor, this is the perfect chance to experience what makes them a national treasure.
Adding to the fun is their “chopstick,” the ever-charismatic Hossan Leong, accompanied by a live band. With elaborate multimedia effects, hilarious political satire, and the Dollies’ signature flair, this show promises to be a heartfelt yet hilarious tribute to Singapore’s evolution.
