Singapore’s iconic Kampong Gelam district is set to come alive once again with the return of Gemilang Kampong Gelam (GKG) 2025, a month-long celebration of Ramadan that blends heritage, community, and sustainability. From 19 February to 25 March 2025, visitors can immerse themselves in a vibrant mix of culinary delights, cultural performances, and interactive workshops, all while celebrating the spirit of togetherness and giving back.

A Celebration of Heritage and Community
Now in its fifth edition, Gemilang Kampong Gelam has become a cornerstone of Singapore’s Ramadan festivities. Last year’s event attracted 1.1 million visitors, nearly double the footfall from 2023, and this year promises to be even bigger and better. The festival is presented by One Kampong Gelam and supported by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), showcasing the rich cultural tapestry of Singapore’s oldest urban district.

Highlights of Gemilang Kampong Gelam 2025
1. Kampong Charity Run 2025: Promoting Health and Awareness
Kicking off the festivities is the Kampong Charity Run 2025, a first-ever initiative in collaboration with Drugfree SG and the Big Boyz Run Club. Taking place on 15 February 2025, this 2.4km run aims to promote drug-free awareness and encourage healthy living as the community prepares for Ramadan. Participants will also have the opportunity to interact with volunteers from Drugfree SG, including ex-drug abusers, and learn about their journeys. All proceeds from the run will go towards supporting beneficiaries of the Kampong Gelam Community Centre.

2. Food and Retail Bazaar: A Feast for the Senses
The heart of GKG 2025 is its Ramadan Bazaar, featuring 120 F&B and retail partners. Visitors can indulge in a mix of traditional and contemporary culinary delights, from crowd favorites like House of Lemang, Picanhas, and Satay Ummi, to unique fusion offerings such as Smashed Burgers, Al Papi tacos, and Flamboyant Goon’s flavored croissants. Don’t forget to end your meal on a sweet note with desserts like Kunafa from ALAA or Turkish ice cream from Turkuaz.
For those in the mood to shop, the bazaar offers a wide array of festive cookies, traditional Malay desserts, and Muslim festive decorations from brands like Baju Fifty-Eight, Deanqaisara, and Pretty Sugar.
