SINGAPORE ART MUSEUM LAUNCHES INAUGURAL ACCESS SHOWCASE 2025: REDEFINING INCLUSIVITY THROUGH ART

The Singapore Art Museum (SAM) is set to redefine accessibility in the arts with its debut SAM Access Showcase 2025: common languages, running from 27 March to 13 April 2025 at SAM at Tanjong Pagar Distripark (39 Keppel Road). This groundbreaking event, free to the public, transforms art into a universal language, fostering connection across neurodivergent, Deaf, Hard of Hearing, visually impaired, and socio-economically diverse communities.

Why it Matters

In a world where 15% of the global population lives with disabilities (World Health Organization), SAM’s showcase pioneers inclusive art experiences, aligning with Singapore’s push for a barrier-free society. The event features 7 innovative programs, including tactile exhibits, sign language glossaries, and performances by neurodivergent artists – all designed to challenge traditional perceptions of art accessibility.

Key Attractions for Visitors

  1. SgSL Glossary of Art Terms
    • The first Singapore Sign Language (SgSL) glossary for contemporary art, co-created with Deaf consultants.
