FROM CHEF’S TABLE TO CHEF’S TAVERN: STEPHAN ZOISL’S NEW SPOT AT CRAIG ROAD

Some chefs chase stars. Others build neighbourhoods.

After a celebrated decade at Chef’s Table, Austrian-born Chef Stephan Zoisl could have followed the path of exclusivity. Instead, he’s opened the doors to something far more accessible — and no less exciting. Welcome to Chef’s Tavern, a bold new concept at Craig Road that fuses his European culinary roots with the sharp, clean lines of Japanese technique.

The mission? Make great food less intimidating — and a whole lot more fun.

Teishoku Lunches, Austrian Duck, and That Ramen

Chef’s Tavern soft-opened in March 2025, and it’s already quietly shaking up the Tanjong Pagar dining scene. The vibe is polished but relaxed — no white tablecloths, just serious flavour.

By day, it’s all about their signature Tavern Style Teishoku Sets, from S$28++. Think roasted meats, Japanese rice or sourdough, side dishes, pickles, and dessert — a refined nod to both bento culture and the chef’s European upbringing.

Dinner ups the ante: Maple Leaf Duck Breast with juniper shallot crumble, Hokkaido Scallop Crudo in mango leche de tigre, and a 24-hour Prawn & Lobster Ramen that’s all soul, no shortcuts.

Bar Bites, Booze, and a Bit of Mischief

Chef’s Tavern isn’t just about food — the cocktails hold their own. Try the Wasabi Whip (vodka, citrus, wasabi) or the umami bomb that is Miso Butter-Washed Gin.

And yes, Happy Hour runs daily from 12pm–7pm — with highballs, house pours and beers from just S$9.90++. It’s already becoming the post-work hangout you didn’t know you needed.

Schnitzel with Soul, Dessert with Drama

Classics like the Schnitzel “Wiener Art” — complete with cranberry jam and Austrian breadcrumbs — hit the nostalgia note hard. But it’s the desserts that surprise: a Dark Chocolate Gateau with popping candy, or a Piña Colada reimagined with gula melaka and coconut parfait.

Make a reservation — or just walk in. There are 96 seats, including bar spots and two private dining rooms.

Why It Matters

Zoisl isn’t recreating Chef’s Table here. He’s rewriting the narrative: this is a place for everyday indulgence, not just special occasions. And in doing so, he’s made Craig Road exciting again.
