Seagate’s new offering, the Backup Plus family of drives aims to make that transition as painless as possible. It is designed to replicate your files into the Backup Plus drive with a click of an icon. Once this is done, it can be migrated to the Windows 8 seamlessly. After migrating your files, Seagate Backup Plus drives can also be set up as a backup drive using the new Windows 8 backup feature, File History.

The portable drives version comes in 4 attractive colors: red, blue, silver and black with 500 GB, 750 GB and 1 TB storage capacities. The Backup Plus desktop drives comes in 1 to 4 TB storage capacities.

The disk drives are available at major electrical retail stores and with manufacturer’s suggested retail prices by capacity: 500GB, $109.99; 750GB, $119.99 and 1TB, $129.99. The Backup Plus Desktop 3.5-inch drive: 1TB, $129.99; 2TB, $159.99; 3TB, $179.99 and 4TB, $239.99
