13 June 2013, Singapore – After what feels like a long wait, fans of H&M’s designer collaborations would be pleased to know that the leading Swedish fashion chain has announced their latest autumn collaboration with French designer Isabel Marant.
The Isabel Marant name would be most familiar with trend-setters who adore modern Parisian style – a good mix of hobo elegance; rock ‘n’ roll spirit and modern chic. With her signature take on Parisian chic, her designs are most favored by the likes of popular socialite Olivia Palermo and fashion icon Alexa Chung. The brand has also proved to be a regular choice among leading fashion crowds on many streetstyle blogs.
Born and raised in Paris, Isabel Marant started customizing her own clothes at a young age. After graduating from the famed Studio Berçot, Isabel Marant worked her way up the fashion system to launching her eponymous collection in 1994. With her widely influential take on modern French style, she now runs an internationally successful brand with a string of boutiques across the globe.
For H&M, Isabel Marant will create a wardrobe of must-have pieces and accessories inspired by her signature style. Apart from designing a collection for women and teenagers, Isabel Marant will also, for the first time, create a line of clothing for men. The collections would be available from 14 November 2013, in around 250 stores worldwide and online.
Below is the video of Isabel Marant talking about fashion and giving us a peek into what to expect of the H&M collaboration.
“I am flattered by this collaboration: H&M works with the best designers and this invitation is an exciting honour. I aim at creating something real, that women want to wear in their everyday lives, with a certain carelessness, which I think is very Parisian. You dress up, but do not pay too much attention and still look sexy. The collection is infused with this kind of easiness and attitude. Everything can be mixed by following one’s own instincts and my take on fashion is all about personality,” says Isabel Marant.
“We are excited to have Isabel Marant as a guest designer at H&M. The way she mixes different elements in her collections, creating a style that is effortless and urban makes her very contemporary. She has a fantastic eye for ethnic detail and the rare ability to create something that people really want to wear. We are sure the H&M customers will be enthusiastic about this collection,” says Margareta van den Bosch, Creative Advisor at H&M.
H&M has launched many high-profile designer collaborations starting with Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld in 2004. Designers and brands including Stella McCartney, Victor & Rolf, Roberto Cavalli, Lanvin and Versace have all created sell-out collections for H&M. The last collaboration, with cult-following label Maison Martin Margiela, was launched in November last year.
