We are expecting ONE FC: WAR OF NATIONS to be the MMA event of the first quarter with their line ups. We speak to OneFC Female star Sherilyn Lim to find out more about her upcoming match with Ann Osman.

M: Your last fight against Ann Osman was barely 3months ago (Oct 2013), did you have time to take a break before plunging into the next training camp?

SL: Yes I did have a short break before returning to training. It gave me time to rejuvenate my body and my mind and I’m ready to get back into training again!

M: The last fight we saw, Ann Osman took you down a few time and she looks like she has worked a lot on her grappling, while you were looking more to stand up and strike.  That resulted in a “somewhat controversial” split decision win for you, despite you landing more hits on her, but she was “controlling: the fight while holding on to you.  Now that you know her fight style, how has your training changed since your previous fight with Ann Osman last October?

SL: It has definitely been more intense! ‘m increasing the intensity and also training smarter. I can’t give away my gam plan so you will have to watch the rematch to find out. (Hint: dragons may or may not have been involved)

M: This time, the fight is taking place in Malaysia, Stadium Negara.  Any “chills” now that you are fighting away from home?

SL: Not really, for me it’s just a venue. I think it’s fair that this time she gets to fight on home ground. I don’t think it will affect my performance either way.

M: With the rising popularity of WMMA in Singapore and more female fighters such as Nicole Chua, May Ooi, and yourself competing in the bigger circuits, how do you see the sport growing locally, and yourself representing it?

SL: It’s hard to say with regards to only WMMA honestly. There are probably many females doing MMA, just not competitively. Hopefully more females will start competing!

The Metropolitant Team wishes the best for Sherilyn in her upcoming fight!

Wes Jaya is a longtime Muay Thai practitioner with more than 70 fights and multiple championships. The Canadian-Malaysian has since made a successful transition to mixed martial arts, having picked up two wins so far. He will be taking a step up in competition as he faces the more experienced Peter Davis. Saiful Merican is one of the top Muay Thai practitioners in Malaysia. He has more than 100 professional Muay Thai fights and possesses ferocious kicks that have knocked out many opponents.
