The Metropolitant team headed up to Batam one hot sunny morning to witness the exciting Cycosports – Nongsa Challenge 2014. Nongsa Challenge 2014 managed by Cycosports attracted over 250 cyclist from all around the world. To view the entire album, click here (Spread the word and tag them in the pictures).
Most of the participants gathered in Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal and with the help of Wave Master Holiday Club as the transportation partner they were in good hands. The dedicated team from Turi Beach Resort and Nongsapura helped with the luggages and also their bikes when it reached the island.
Mr. Gavin Kramer, the founder of Cycosports, Mr. Yusfa Hendri, the head of Batam Office of Tourism and Culture, the representatives from Turi Beach Resort as the partner venue, Nongsapura Ferry Terminal, and other officials saw the race flagged off at 8.30am.
The circuit race consisted of 12km loops with each loop having 175m of climbing. Category 1 and 2 will compete 8 laps and category 3 and women complete a total of 6 laps. The final sprint will be contested up a 1km long climb with 70m of elevation to the Turi Beach resort, the host location for the day.
The lunch and prize giving ceremony were held in Turi Beach Resort’s lobby. Winners were presented with their trophy after they feasted on the delectable buffet lunch provided by Turi Beach Resort, the official partner of Nongsa Challenge 2014. Lucky draw and champagne popping brought the successful event to a rowdy end. The cyclists were sent back to the Nongsapura Ferry Terminal after the closing event was finished.
