Don’t Let Your Holiday Stop You From Working Out!


You’re on a holiday and the hotel doesn’t have a gym? So what’s stopping you? Many a times, a week layoff is quite disruptive to one’s (workout) plans. There are actually quite a few options with the use of your own body weight and some items you might not think of at all!


We speak to Lee Yu-Wen, an ex-National tenpin bowler turned personal trainer and gym owner of the New:yu Fitness Studio who has come up with a quick 15-minute workout for you to do in your own hotel room!

Yu-wen is a passionate and accomplished ex-national athlete with more than 15 years experience representing Singapore in Tenpin Bowling. His athletic career highlights includes multi titles internationally, GOLD and SILVER medals at the Asian Games, a BRONZE medal at the SEA Games and selected to represent Singapore at both the World Championships and Commonwealth Games.

Yu-wen brings together his personal experience as an elite athlete with his health, mental and fitness qualifications to offer his clients a robust and tailored personal training workout. In addition his training in both holistic and sports massage therapies allows Yu-wen to offer clients advice on treatment and recovery from injury.

Burpees | Squats | Mountain climbers | Push-ups | Dips Shoulder presses

Exercise 1: 

Push ups x 30 seconds -> Rest 20 seconds -> Squats x 30 seconds -> Rest 20 seconds -> Mountain Climbers x 30 seconds -> Rest 20 seconds

Repeat 3 times

Rest for 2 minutes before moving to the 2nd set of exercises

Exercise 2:

Shoulder Press x 60 seconds [use with suitcase/cabin bag] -> Rest 20 seconds -> Dips x 30 seconds -> Rest 20 seconds -> Burpees x 30 seconds

Repeat 3 times
