Sony announced the launch of the α7 II, the world’s first full-frame camera with optical 5-Axis image stabilization designed for a full-frame image sensor.
The next in the α7 series of interchangeable lens models, the α7 II features optical 5-axis image stabilization that is capable of detecting and correcting various camera shake along five axes to provide still images and video. Featuring a 24.3 effective megapixel 35 mm full-frame Exmor® CMOS sensor that moves along five axes to compensate for camera shake, the α7 II is able to provide optical image stabilization equivalent to up to 4.5 steps faster shutter speed of correction for still images. Shooting in low-light conditions can never be better with the in-camera body stabilization, coupled with a BIONZ X image processing engine that greatly reduces noise while maintaining exceptional detail and texture.
Equipped with swift and accurate autofocus, the α7 II employs a 117-point focal plane phase-detection AF sensor and 25 contrast detection AF points, making sure that you are able to capture clear fast moving subjects. The autofocus in the new α7 II is also 30 percent faster compared to its predecessor. And as if this was not enough, it has 1.5 times the tracking ability of the α7, as well as an improved motion-prediction algorithm. This means that it is able to perform much better in tracking a subject and predicting its next action, so that a sudden movement or expression of a subject is never missed! The α7 II also offers full HD video quality at a high bit rate of 50Mbps.
The α7 II from Sony will be available at all Sony Stores, Sony Centers and selected authorized dealers from today, 12 December 2014 onwards, at a recommended retail price of S$2, 149 (body only) and S$2, 549 (with SEL2870 lens).
As part of the launch promotion, customers who purchase the α7 II from 12 to 21 December 2014 will receive the NP-FW50 Rechargeable Battery Pack and SF-64UY SDXC UHS-1 Memory Card for free.
