The motorsport scene in Singapore is heating up as the latest fun karting circuit is set to open in Turf City, Bukit Timah next month. THE KARTING ARENA @ BUKIT TIMAH is Singapore’s first ever, permanent electric karting track, and is the most centrally located circuit in the city
The new S$1.3 million circuit features a 545-metre long track with an exhilarating experience. The 8-metre wide track, currently the widest in Singapore, has multiple overtaking points that makes for an amazingly fun and safe circuit.
“The new track is designed specifically for leisure karting. We have been involved in Singapore ngkarti for a few years and have met many people who enjoy karting, but not on a professional level. The Karting Arena @ Bukit Timah allows us to offer a strategic venue to hobby and corporate level enthusiasts to enjoy karting as a social activity,” said Mr Yuey Tan, Founder of The Karting Arena @ Bukit Timah.
The new track will only run electric karts, making it the first permanent electric karting track that is environmentally friendly in Singapore. The new electric karts are the fastest accelerating karts in the market. They outperform traditional gasoline-powered karts, providing superior acceleration and consistent performance; without the noise, fumes and mess associated to conventional gasoline karts.
“We brought in newly developed Birel electric karts from Italy and Japan that boast superior handling on a chassis that behaves similarly to a Birel race chassis used in international races,” said Mr Tan.
The new electric karts feature the latest technology in safety and performance – even weight distribution, electronic speed control and remote emergency shut down, offering drivers the full capacity to focus on driving while on the circuit.
Drivers are able to experience quick acceleration with the high-powered electric motors that are programmed to produce a linear torque output that will help drivers when coming out of corners, unlike gasoline fun karts that feel bogged-down when the rpm drops.
“The investment in electric karts is significantly higher than conventional karts, but we believe in doing good for the environment in our business, without having to compromise on reliability and performance,” added Mr Tan.
The Karting Arena @ Bukit Timah offers consumers a fun karting experience that is above and beyond what has been offered in Singapore, with precision, reliability and performance in mind. Fun karting is suitable for everyone, the young and old, and even those without a driver’s license. The new circuit sets a fresh standard in fun and corporate karting by offering the highest quality at the most affordable prices.
The karting track is also purpose-built for private and corporate events, offering an exciting platform for team building activities, as well as for individual karting experience, with various customizable packages to choose from. It is the perfect motorsport entertainment venue to host corporate outings, and for the whole family to enjoy and have fun together.
The new circuit also features a weekly racing league where drivers can race among friends for a chance to win prizes and money. The E1 Challenge is held on weekday evenings across two categories – E1/30 for drivers aged 18 and below, and E1/Pro for drivers above 19 years-old; providing fair and exciting races for all.
The Karting Arena @ Bukit Timah brings to the industry a whole new level of hi-tech driver oriented timing systems, specially designed for the best kart circuits in the world. It is the first karting circuit in Singapore to introduce the Race App, offering drivers a host of profile features, including automated queuing system, lap times and live race results, which can be shared directly via email and on social media.
Managed by Havelock Management, and founded by a Singapore racing icon in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia (PCCA), Yuey Tan, together with former Singapore Olympic swimmer and sports veteran, Kenneth Yeo, and local presenter and race driver Claire Jedrek; the new circuit is set to shake up the motorsports scene here with their years of combined experience, as well as expertise in racing and karting.
Rates for individual fun karting experience starts from SGD25.00 per session for 10 minutes – approximately 20 laps. Corporate and customized events are available with rates starting from SGD1, 400.00 per hour. The venue will be open until 10.00pm on operating days, providing a totally different karting experience in the evenings under the floodlights.
