Official Opening Of The First Hotel Indigo In Southeast Asia

Hotel Indigo Bangkok Wireless Road put a spotlight on the colourful Wireless Road neighbourhood with a vibrant and illuminating display of lights and sound, to celebrate its official opening and the launch of the first Hotel Indigo in Southeast Asia.

Special guests and members of the public joined in the celebrations on 13 and 14 March, where they were treated to dazzling lights, live performances and specially crafted Discovery Boards that lit trails around the area to encourage people to explore the best neighbourhood spots for food, art and culture in the Wireless Road neighbourhood.

The row of customised lit balloons and LED spotlights created a luminous glow along Wireless Road, while Leanne Harwood, VP Operations SEA, Oliver Horn, General Manager and Khun Yoauvaluk Piyasombatkul, Owner, lit up the 26-story hotel facade with a mesmerizing myriad of colours using the new Philips Colour Kinetics lighting technology.

At the main event at Hotel Indigo Bangkok Wireless Road, Thai celebrity singer Natt Buntita gave a show-stopping performance, treating guests to the traditional tunes of the King’s Music, which was broadcast and popularised by the country’s first radio mast that was built in the neighbourhood in the 1920s.

Guests also sampled a taste of the neighbourhood through locally inspired dishes while sipping exclusive Chivas Regal Extra cocktails, before being whisked off on an exclusive Hotel Indigo tram to tour the neighbourhood, whilst learning more about the area and its stories.

Paying homage to the authentic Thai arts, a traditional puppet show from the Kuan Buang Laung Artist Colony entertained the guests, as they weaved in and out of the crowds and interacted with the guests.

The 192-room Hotel Indigo Bangkok Wireless Road is refreshingly local in design, incorporating elements of its surrounding neighbourhood into the hotel. This includes vertical gardens to reflect Bangkok’s iconic Lumpini Park, which is just minutes away, street art style murals depicting the story of the surrounding area and custom art pieces such as a wall of wireless radios reflecting the area’s history as the birthplace of the country’s wireless radio stations.

As well as meticulously designed guest rooms featuring spa inspired bathrooms, locally-sourced toiletries, private balconies and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, the hotel’s open-air infinity-edge pool and deck provides unparalleled views of the city.

This philosophy of bringing the local neighbourhood to life in the hotel extends to the restaurants and bars. Hotel Indigo Bangkok Wireless Road’s neighbourhood café, Metro on Wireless, serves delectable Thai dishes inspired by the local community, as well as Western cuisine. The hotel’s 22 Steps cocktail bar offers a sophisticated and relaxing space to enjoy innovative cocktails inspired by Thai flavours, prepared by top mixologists.

Guests can book rooms now at the Hotel Indigo website, with special opening rates of THB3,700 inclusive of breakfast, until June 30 2015.
