“NOW IS NOT THE TIME”: CELEBRATING LEE KUAN YEW’S CENTENNIAL LEGACY THROUGH IMMERSIVE ART

On the centenary of Lee Kuan Yew’s birth, a first-of-its-kind immersive exhibition commemorates the life and legacy of Singapore’s renowned founding father.

Organised by X3D Studio, this interactive experience features a blend of virtual production, Artificial Intelligence (AI), generative art, architecture, film, and music, and boasts collaborations with global artists such as Daniel Arsham and notable institutions like LASALLE College of the Arts and Nanyang Polytechnic.

Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore’s trailblazing first Prime Minister, is credited for transforming Singapore from a fledgling nation into a global economic titan within decades. Karen Seah, the founder of X3D Studio, remarked, “This exhibition is our homage to Lee Kuan Yew’s unwavering vision, values, and dedication in nation-building.”

Now Is Not the Time uniquely chronicles Lee’s incredible journey. It amplifies his legacy as a national and global beacon, an advocate of multiculturalism, and a proponent of technology and innovation. Seah further emphasized the importance of this exhibition in bridging the past with the present, “By employing art, technology, and storytelling, we aim to resonate across generations, educating Singapore’s youth about the sacrifices made for their current prosperity.”

Several highlights await visitors, including the contemporary works of New York artist Daniel Arsham and projects from Singapore’s budding creative institutions. Supported by Singapore’s prominent organisations like DBS Bank, Pontiac Land Group, and Allen & Gledhill, this exhibition promises to be monumental.

Piyush Gupta, CEO of DBS, accentuated Lee’s extraordinary foresight and dedication to Singapore’s success, and David Tsang, CEO of Pontiac Land Group, recognized the transformative power of art showcased in the exhibition.

Daniel Arsham, who sculpted Lee in a pivotal moment of Singapore’s history, expressed his admiration for Singapore’s futuristic landscape, stating, “I’m honored to contribute to the celebration of Mr Lee’s centenary and hope my works inspire new generations to appreciate his global significance.”

About “NOW IS NOT THE TIME” Exhibition: This exhibition is a fusion of past, present, and future, using state-of-the-art technology to reflect on Singapore’s rich history under Lee’s leadership. Several interactive exhibits await, from a Time Portal in collaboration with Daniel Arsham, which introduces Lee’s remarkable story, to a short AI and Virtual Production film by Refinery Media and X3D.

Visitors can dive into this transformative experience daily from 11 am to 8 pm at 25 Pasir Panjang Road from 10th to 24th September 2023. Entrance is free, but registration is required.
