BUGIS STREET OPENS A NEW LEVEL 2 DEDICATED TO LOCAL BRANDS, THRIFT SHOPPING AND CREATIVE EXPERIENCES

The refreshed space introduces Somewhere @ Bugis Street, alongside homegrown retailers, workshops and community-driven concepts aimed at a new generation of shoppers.

Bugis Street has long been known as one of Singapore’s most recognisable shopping destinations for affordable fashion and street finds. Its latest refresh signals a shift beyond traditional retail, with a stronger focus on discovery, creativity and local entrepreneurship.

The newly revamped Level 2 introduces an experience-led retail concept built around independent brands, interactive experiences and community spaces. At the heart of the transformation is Somewhere @ Bugis Street, a new concept developed with Invade, the team behind Artbox and Fleawhere.

Designed as a retail playground for younger shoppers, Somewhere @ Bugis Street combines curated thrift finds, local brands and creative spaces under one roof. The venue includes podcast rooms, creator spaces developed with schools and arts institutions, interactive rooms, open-deck turntables and a members’ lounge. On weekends, the space expands into a marketplace featuring around 40 booths by thrifters, crafters and independent creators selling everything from vintage fashion and handmade accessories to collectibles and artwork.

The launch weekend also features CLOSET RAID, a special edition market where visitors can browse wardrobes curated by Singapore fashion content creators while enjoying complimentary activities, including DIY keycap charm customisation.

Complementing the new marketplace is a curated line-up of local businesses that reflects the changing tastes of younger consumers.

Singapore lifestyle brand Ruby Merlot has opened its first physical store at Bugis Street after building a following online and expanding into Seoul. Beyond its signature bags and journals, the store is designed as a community space where visitors can take part in journal customisation, junk journaling workshops and creative gatherings.

Food also takes a more interactive direction with Creamie Sippies, the local brand behind Singapore’s first matcha mill café. Its newest concept introduces a Banana Pudding Bar where customers can customise their desserts with different toppings, sauces and seasonal specials before pairing them with the brand’s signature drinks.

Those looking for hands-on experiences can visit White Pixies, which brings Singapore’s first dedicated Candle Bar to Bugis Street. Visitors can create personalised candles, diffuser blends and perfume balm charms through seven different workshop experiences, turning retail into something far more participatory.

Photography receives a refresh through Standard Photo Studio, a self-shoot concept featuring four themed rooms, including a nostalgic Hawker Room inspired by local culture. Guests can also personalise their own photo keychains at a dedicated DIY bead station after each session.

The transformation does not end there. Bugis Street has also announced the upcoming opening of Myth Jinn Escape Room, described as a first-of-its-kind concept in Singapore, while Xcape Singapore will introduce new escape room experiences in an expanded space.

For years, Bugis Street has been synonymous with bargain shopping. The new Level 2 reflects a broader evolution, positioning the destination as a place where shopping, creativity and community come together. By giving local businesses room to experiment alongside interactive experiences, the refreshed floor offers visitors more reasons to linger long after they have finished browsing the shops.
