Fruit Drinks Are Ruining Your Diet Plans

Making sure you order fruit juices instead of the sugar laden aerated drinks. That might just be the biggest mistake. We drink most of our sugar intake and soda gets most of the blame. The fact is, fruit drinks are soda in disguise.

From 1 to 13 October 2025, Jewel Changi Airport ho From 1 to 13 October 2025, Jewel Changi Airport hosts the Southeast Asian debut of G-DRAGON MEDIA EXHIBITION: Übermensch, an immersive showcase of music, art, and technology across 3,000 square metres.

The journey begins at the Ü Tunnel, lined with daisies and light, guiding visitors into a world built around one of K-pop’s most influential figures. Inside the Media Tech Zone, up to 50 people at a time strap on VR headsets to step into a live-performance simulation of TAKE ME, breaking down the barrier between artist and audience.

In the Artist Zone, full-scale recreations of music video sets from POWER allow fans to walk into the subway and performance booths with uncanny detail. For collectors, the MD Zone launches exclusive Singapore-only merchandise: daisy lightsticks, umbrellas, and limited T-shirt designs, available alongside fan-favourite items. Spend above tiered thresholds and unlock the Photo Reward Zone, where a holographic interaction with G-Dragon awaits.

The exhibition also extends into Jewel’s public spaces. At the South Gateway Garden, the free-entry Daisy Garden installation rises three metres tall beneath the Rain Vortex, open to anyone visiting the mall.

Timed with G-Dragon’s headline performance at the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix, Übermensch is both a cultural statement and a creative experiment. Tickets start from S$30, with exclusive bundles priced at S$188, S$288, and S$388, available via Klook.

Few characters have captured the imagination of co Few characters have captured the imagination of collectors in recent years quite like LABUBU from POP MART’s THE MONSTERS series. Mischievous, wide-eyed, and endlessly memeable, LABUBU has moved from niche toy shelves into mainstream consciousness. From 24 September to 19 October 2025, VivoCity transforms into the playground for this cultural icon with the launch of the LABUBU Mini Market.

Taking over the Sky Park on Level 3, the Mini Market reimagines the everyday convenience store through LABUBU’s cheeky lens. The 3.6-metre-wide Basket of Mischief greets visitors with oversized snacks, while Snack Attack turns chips and milk cartons into surreal, photo-ready installations. LABUBU’s Quick Bites Food Truck continues the theme, and the centrepiece Mini Market installation delivers a grocery aisle gone wild, complete with a giant LABUBU Cup Noodle that is bound to dominate social feeds. These monumental props are more than décor; they serve as cultural touchpoints for fans who know LABUBU’s playful spirit thrives in the unexpected.

At East Court on Level 1, the pop-up shop takes the concept further with the Wacky Mart Series collectibles. Everyday staples are transformed into imaginative keepsakes: Storage Bag Blind Boxes, Sandwich Mini Bags, Hanging Tissue Holders, Seafood Balls Plush Pendants, and Cup Noodles Figure Storage Bags.

Even without stepping inside, visitors can enjoy installations such as the 2.4-metre-tall LABUBU Microwave Oven and exterior photo zones. VivoCity is supporting the launch with mall-wide promotions: spend $100 to $250 to unlock VivoRewards perks, with additional bonuses for new member sign-ups and Kids Club enrolments.

Organized by INBA PNBA Singapore and Fitness Movem Organized by INBA PNBA Singapore and Fitness Movement, the event was run under strict Olympic-compliant drug-testing, making every flex, pose, and medal truly earned.

The stage brought together athletes across categories from Novice and Amateur to Pro, Masters, and Grand Masters. Each competitor stepped out not only to showcase muscle and symmetry, but also to prove that grit, discipline, and clean sport can hold its own against the industry’s louder, flashier side.

Athletes from across Asia gave the crowd a reason to cheer, knowing that every physique was the product of hard work, not shortcuts.

For Singapore, hosting a Pro Qualifier and Natural Olympia Qualifier on home soil was a milestone. The show gave local and regional athletes a real pathway to the world stage, and the energy inside the theatre made it clear: natural bodybuilding has found its audience here.

The Asia Natural Games 2025 reminded us that the sport is not just about building size, but about building credibility. Every pose held on stage was backed by sacrifice, dedication, and the integrity of competing clean. And in a world often clouded by doubt, that’s worth celebrating.

Tucked inside Ang Mo Kio, Xiang Kitchen (湘厨湖 Tucked inside Ang Mo Kio, Xiang Kitchen (湘厨湖南菜) looks like any other brightly lit kopitiam stall, but the food tells a different story. What comes out of its woks is packed with the heat, fire, and intensity that Hunan cuisine is known for. (As seen on @misstamchiak - we’ve got to try this ourselves!)

The Stir-Fried Pork with Green Chilli is a must-order. Smoky slices of pork belly, crisp green chillies, garlic, and black bean combine into a punchy, addictive dish that demands rice on the side. The Beef with Wild Peppers ups the ante, with tender beef coated in the sharp fragrance of red and green peppers that bring heat without being one-note. For something soothing yet bold, the Suan Cai Yu, or pickled vegetable fish soup, balances tangy mustard greens with a light chilli broth that warms you up without overwhelming.

Even the vegetables hit hard. Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Garlic and Chili comes with wok hei and spice, while the cold eggplant with garlic and green chilli proves that simple ingredients can still pack a serious punch.

Prices are friendly, with most dishes between $10 and $18, and portions are hearty enough for sharing. Like most Hunan food, the cooking leans oily, but that is what carries the spice and fragrance across every bite. Locals who know the cuisine come for the heat, the boldness, and the satisfaction of food that feels both rustic and full of character.

For those craving authentic regional Chinese food, Xiang Kitchen brings the heart of Hunan to the kopitiam table.

*Note: There is only one chef cooking your orders, so please be patient if you go on a crowded night.

Two decades ago, Toast Box poured its very first k Two decades ago, Toast Box poured its very first kopi and served its first kaya toast. Fast forward to today, the brand has grown into one of Singapore’s most recognisable coffee chains.

Meet the Boluo Buns

At the centre of the anniversary menu is the new Boluo Bun series, a creative spin on the classic pineapple bun. Each one is filled to the brim with flavour, designed to satisfy both sweet and savoury cravings.
	•	The Mighty Chicken 好鸡动菠萝包 comes stacked with crispy fried chicken chop.
	•	The Luncheon Legend 餐肉大侠菠萝包 is packed with thick slices of juicy luncheon meat.
	•	The Nutty Genius 花芝天才菠萝包 layers rich black sesame with crunchy peanut butter for an unexpected but addictive combo.

The Soy Series

The surprises do not end there. Toast Box is also introducing a new Soy Series, reimagining local favourites with a healthier twist. Soy Rosie 冰玫瑰豆浆 is a dreamy soy-based bandung that tastes like nostalgia in a cup. For the purists, Soy Kopi 冰奶茶豆浆 and Soy Teh 冰咖啡豆浆 bring familiar comfort with a soy upgrade.

No anniversary would be complete without celebrating Toast Box’s foundation — kopi. The fan-favourite Kopi Package is making a comeback, and it is better than ever. For just $98, you get 60 cups of kopi plus two kaya toast sets (U.P. $145.40). For regulars, this is the deal of the year and the perfect way to sip and save.

Since its Singapore debut at Jewel Changi Airport Since its Singapore debut at Jewel Changi Airport in December 2024, Hakka Yu has attracted queues of diners eager to try its comforting, heritage-driven dishes. Known in Guangzhou for long lines and homestyle cooking, the brand has now expanded with its second outlet at Northpoint City in Yishun, which opened on 27 August 2025. A third outlet at JEM is also slated for October, confirming that authentic Hakka cuisine is finding a real foothold here.

For context, the Hakka are Singapore’s fourth-largest Chinese dialect group, numbering around 260,000, yet full-fledged Hakka restaurants are rare. Hakka Yu’s arrival fills that gap, bringing the community and food lovers alike a taste of dishes that balance simplicity, tradition, and comfort.

Founded in Guangzhou in 2013, Hakka Yu has grown to more than 80 outlets across China and earned spots on Dianping’s “Must-Eat List” in both 2022 and 2024. Its expansion into Singapore showcases the same philosophy: natural, mountain-sourced ingredients, recipes honed by chefs with decades of experience, and an emphasis on food that feels both authentic and approachable.

Signature dishes set the restaurant apart. The Hakka Salt-Baked Chicken ($18.80 half, $37.60 whole) is freshly baked twice daily and recognised as an intangible cultural heritage dish of Guangdong. Using kampung chicken marinated in herbs, encased in salt, and baked to seal in flavour, it delivers meat that is tender and briny with a deep herbal aroma. Another standout is the Hakka Stuffed Tofu ($12.80), where silky tofu is pan-fried and filled with minced pork and fish, offering a chunky, satisfying bite. For comfort, the Traditional Hakka Pork Soup ($5.80 per person) is simmered for 60 minutes in spring water, producing a broth that feels restorative and hearty.

With its expansion to Yishun, Hakka Yu brings heritage and flavour to the table in equal measure.

The Mid-Autumn Festival has always been more than The Mid-Autumn Festival has always been more than just mooncakes. It is the glow of lanterns on a cool night, the clink of teacups around the table, and the quiet joy of sharing food with people who matter. In Singapore, mooncakes have become a seasonal ritual, but not all mooncakes are created equal. This year, Swatow Seafood Restaurant shines a spotlight on Teochew pastry craft with its Mid-Autumn Mooncake Collection 2025.

The Teochew Flaky Mooncake Series offers pastries that crumble into delicate layers with every bite. Inside, fillings such as yam paste, black sesame with bean paste, or salted egg yolk highlight the flavours most loved by Teochew families. Compared to the dense baked varieties found at hotels and bakeries, these flaky mooncakes are lighter and carry a refined texture that feels distinctly different.

For traditionalists, the Baked Mooncake Series provides the familiar comfort of golden crusts and rich fillings. White lotus with yolk, mixed nuts, and jade pandan are presented with care, each flavour reminding diners of the classics that have anchored Mid-Autumn for generations. One standout is the La Piah, a giant seven-inch Teochew pastry filled with lotus and red bean paste, crowned with five salted egg yolks. It is dramatic, indulgent, and designed for sharing at family gatherings.

Limited-edition flavours like the Flaky Teochew Summer Breeze sit comfortably alongside the classics, showing that tradition does not have to stay static. Each box is packaged elegantly, making it a fitting gift for both family and business partners.

Orders are open now, with self-collection available at Swatow Toa Payoh Central, Swatow City at Bukit Batok, and Fortunate Dim Sum at Woodleigh Mall. Free delivery is offered with a minimum of 20 boxes. Full details can be found at the official Swatow Mooncake 2025 page.

Unlimited Woodfire Buffet at Under Der Linden Alo Unlimited Woodfire Buffet at Under Der Linden

Along the quiet, leafy stretch of Portsdown Road, Under Der Linden has earned a reputation as a hidden sanctuary. Known for its botanical charm, twinkling lights, and pet-friendly spaces, it has become a destination for romantic dinners, gatherings with friends, and even intimate weddings. This September, the restaurant introduces something new. Starting 15 September, diners can enjoy an Unlimited Woodfire Buffet for $49++ per person.

Koji-Aged Ribeye, Iberico Pork Jowl, and Smoked Pork Spare Ribs are prepared with care before being finished on the woodfire grill. The result is smoky, tender, and deeply flavourful. Singaporeans know Hainanese chicken rice as a nati Singaporeans know Hainanese chicken rice as a national staple, but few have tried the original Wenchang chicken that inspired it. At Mr Hainan in VivoCity (#02-116, 1 HarbourFront Walk), diners can finally taste the roots of this iconic dish, brought directly from Hainan, China.

The star of the menu is the Wenchang Chicken, prepared with chickens raised for over 180 days on a natural diet. The result is meat that is firm, springy, and deeply savoury. Served with minimal seasoning, it highlights the quality of the bird itself, offering a glimpse into the heritage behind Singapore’s beloved chicken rice.

Seafood is another strong suit. The steamed pomfret topped with garlic and preserved vegetables carries a clean, balanced flavour, while the lotus leaf grilled fish adds smokiness and depth. These dishes lean on freshness rather than heavy sauces, staying true to the island province’s coastal traditions.

For something heartier, the braised lamb with potatoes and peppers is rustic and robust, best shared among a group. Meanwhile, the winter melon soup with glass noodles delivers subtle sweetness and comfort, a reminder of Hainan’s home-style cooking. Even the vegetable stir-fries, like the mixed vermicelli with cabbage and wood ear mushrooms, are executed with care and balance.

Mr Hainan brings a taste of Hainan’s heritage to Singapore and reminds us that some of our most familiar dishes began their journey far beyond our shores.
