8 November 2013, Singapore – The 10th Fly By Night Video Challenge 2013 video challenge will be celebrating their 10th anniversary in December. In 2003, it was the first 48 hour video in Singapore. It was started by filmmaker Tan Pin Pin and film curator Yuni Hadi, FBN is a breeding ground for some of the brightest talents in Singapore, including filmmakers Chai Yee Wei (That Girl in Pinafore), Victric Thng (Locust) and Munah & Hirzi (YouTube personalities). This independent film event has led to the creation of about 400 short films in the last 10 years.
The 10th Fly By Night Video Challenge will take place from 6 to 8 December 2013. Participants need to create a film of 3 minutes or less with a given theme, within 48 hours. The event caps off with a ‘live’ screening and judging session at FilmGarde. The top 10 winners will be announced immediately and will receive SG$300 cash plus a pair of movie vouchers each.
